Relationship Coaching

Relationship Coaching is a course to help couples facing hardship within their marriage to deal with their problems and concerns, and give every support to strengthen the relationship by facing and communicating about their matters. Marriage is one of the most important commitments and partnerships in one’s life. However if this relationship breaks down we provide a confidential service with trained therapists.

We offer emotional support within a non-judgmental and safe environment, where the couple can work on their issues. Sessions are arranged either face to face or over Skype as arranged. We support and help a couple to develop and maintain a healthy marriage which means a healthy family environment for children to grow up in. Our commitment where possible is to help couples in resolving their issues, understand the importance of shared goals and values as well as how to keep their love for each other alive.

Coaching are arranged on request. Please contact us for more information on interest or arrangements for the sessions on info@approachableparenting.org.uk. We are here to help.

Approachable Parenting Sparklers

Approachable Parenting is an organisation which was established in response to the needs of BAME communities. We offer a variety of services and recognised parenting courses drawing from both Psychology and Faith principles. Our work has direct influence in developing the characteristics of the family, hence having a positive impact on the family structure.

Sparklers are Befrienders and Mentors that build open relationships with parents (Mentees) to listen, empower, support and encourage them to fulfill their parenting goals and overcome issues. Mentors are selected from parents who complete an 8 week parenting programmes and who want to support other parents. Following interview they attend a 6 week training session on relationship building, gaining counselling and mentoring skills with an expert trainer. This includes questioning techniques, how to listen effectively and how to coach parents rather than give answers. Each cohort group have their own Amira and the Sultana oversees the project. At the start of the first session, the Mentor and the Mentee make an agreement, which clearly sets out the understanding of Sparklers in relation to their participation and commitments. The sessions are one hour weekly, up to 6 weeks and then reviewed during supervision. Out of pocket expenses are covered by Approachable Parenting.     Face to face or telephone meetings are informal, relaxed and focused on the parent’s progression as well as any hurdles encountered. The Sparklers project has gained the Mentoring and Befriending quality mark and has received much positive feedback from parents.

Who are our services for?
We work with people from all backgrounds, cultures and faiths in particular the Muslim communities, in a non-judgemental and supportive environment.

Sparklers and Mentoring and Befriending Programme
Sparklers are parents who have previously attended one of our parenting programme and now wish to give back to the local community. Parents are informed about the Sparklers programme during parenting courses, after successfully completing the interview stage parents attend the 6-week training programme which focuses on mentoring, health and safety, personal development and much more.

Following this, Sparklers that are interested in our Mentoring and Befriending programme attend further mentoring training focusing on relationship building, gaining counselling and mentoring skills with an expert trainer. This includes questioning techniques, how to listen effectively and how to coach parents rather than give answers. Each cohort is assigned their own Amira and the Sultana overseas the project. Sparklers are Befrienders and Mentors that provide tailored support to help build open relationships with parents (Mentees) to listen, empower, support and encourage them to fulfil their parenting goals and overcome issues. More specifically, some of the areas we can support parents with are:

  • Helping parents new to the area especially BME parents
  • Supporting parents with low self-esteem or confidence
  • Assisting parents who have no time to concentrate on themselves
  • To guide parents who may have pressures of family, home and in society of where to gain support
  • Enabling parents to become more involved in School/Children’s Centre/Community activities
  • Allowing parents to achieve and find their own solutions
  • Giving parents time to think and reflect
  • Enabling parents to identify goals and form action plans to achieve their goals
  • Supporting with parenting skills i.e learning to implement bedtime routine
